Carl Friedrich Wilhelm Berge was a noted German naturalist, ornithologist and entomologist who had written and illustrated exceptiona works on beetles, butterflies and birds. The present copy of Berge s treatise on beetles is a fine and scarce collection of European beetles with 1315 hand colored specimens on 34 plates. (Hagen p. 43; Nissen ZBI 321).
