This collection of different instructors' lectures as recorded by Coppée(1851-1925) also contain some of his annotations. They provide information on course contents for major scientific disciplines taught at CU in Louvain in the mid 19th century. This training in physics, mathematics and engineering was essential for a career in industry. The author's father, Evence Coppée, perfected the coke producing furnace in Belgium in the middle of the 19th century. His son, Evence Narcisse Coppée whose notes thes are, is noted for continuing his father's activities and focused on on coal by creating the factory for coke production at Ressaix, while purchasing the ccoalmines at Ressaix and the concession of Mont-Ste-Aldegonde and, especially beginning geological prospecting in Campine. This is an interesting collection of studies for the early educational experience in science for one of the captains of industry of the 19th century in Belgium.
