Provenance: Signature of J. A. Mongiardini on inside of upper cover. This is a fine compilation of Morgagni's investigations and commentary on his teacher Valsalve. An unusual collection of major works by Morgagni who "was a prodigious worker and prolific writer, although most of his writings were very specialized, dealing with a single condition of pathological anatomy, a single portion of the anatomy, or classical and literay subjects. The present collection (re. Opuscula miscellanea…) of some of his lesser writings includes tracts on gallstonees, certain medico-legal matters, letters to Lancisi on the manner of Cleopatra's death, and Morgagni's biography of his teacher, Valsalva" (Heirs of Hippocrates, p. 274-275). (Cole, 1450, 1451[earlier edition]; Heirs, 790, 795, 796).
