This is the illustrated 2nd edition of Ryff & Ager's widely read book on materia medica and preparation of various mineral or syrup treatments. Scarce illustrated pharmaceutical publication by Ryff, noted physician and surgeon, which has been carefully edited by Ager. Ager has divided into three parts: the first dealing with the medicinal and gastronomic use of plants; the second, describes the various applications of individual parts of a plant, and sums up knowledge of exotic plants recently discovered; while the last part provides details on the composition of pills, lozenges, and ointments.
