Text block with red edges. Collation: [10], 1496 pp. Text is contained in bordered area written with black and red ink, black predominating. There are occasional marginalia additions. The last pages of this manuscript contain a short index of symptoms and locator page for discussion and treatment. This Index covers the last several hundred pages of the manuscript. Provenance: Ink inscription on early leaf indicating origin of manuscript being "Wein 1799." Manuscript organized in sections for different diseases. In these sections there is extensive pharmaceutical discourse (with occasional marginalia) followed by prescriptions of the authors own experience of that from others such as Nicolai Alexander or Paracelsus that were considered appropriate for specific cure or relief to patient. This original manuscript records in great detail what a practicing physician would face in normal practice in the late 18th and early 19th century Vienna. This is a rare and exceptional manuscript that embodies every symptom and disease known to this physician/pharmacist.
